Customs staff at Heathrow Airport have arrested and detained an eight month pregnant woman on suspicion of smuggling a baby in her stomach.
Customs and Excise stopped Mrs Janice Twinkle as she approached the passport checking area at Heathrow Airport. Staff said she seemed suspicious and nervous especially, they suspected she may be smuggling drugs and proceeded to ask questions. When Mrs Twinkle insisted that she was not a drug addict they decided to run a full body scan in case she had swallowed any drugs, It was at this point that they discovered she had an eight month old baby in her stomach and arrested her on suspicion of smuggling a baby into the UK.
We spoke to head of Customs at Heathrow, Mr Daniel Flatfoot, to find out their side of the story, “Basically the woman in question was in the queue for the passport check and one of my staff thought she looked suspicious. When we are concerned about someone we proceed to ask questions. We stopped her because as well as looking nervous she had a rather large stomach that isn’t consistent with normal women, so we suspected that she had swallowed something. She was also eating a ham and peanut butter sandwich which we found weird. As she was not responding to the questions we had to run a scan and that’s when we found the baby she was smuggling. We have charged her with the crime but the hospital say we have to wait a month before we can rescue the smuggled baby and return it to it’s rightful owners.”
The police allowed us to speak with Mrs Twinkle, she described her horrific situation, “This is ridiculous, next they will be arresting people for smuggling ear wax or snot. How can they not know I am pregnant and that the baby is attached to me? How do they think I got the baby in my stomach? Do they think I swallowed an eight month old baby that I’ve stolen from another woman’s womb? I’m innocent of any crime and can’t believe I’m in prison right now. I tell you something, I’ve never been so aggrieved at something in my whole life, the stupid d*ckheads”
Home security, Shabana Mahmood has this to say on the matter, “We have a zero tolerance policy in this country, you smuggle something then you’ll feel the full force of the law. I hear that this lady failed a drugs test too, she told the customs officer that she hasn’t been near any drugs yet we find large amounts of folic acid in her blood. We can’t allow people to get away with things, my staff have done a great job in finding this baby stealer, it wouldn’t surprise me if the stolen baby did’t even have a passport!”
This case will be in court next week, we will send our reporters there to find out how Mrs Twinkle gets on. She is facing up to seven years in prison for smuggling a child.
